The Orion Coil Driver – 2-Way is a precision-engineered external ignition driver designed to power basic coils without internal drivers. Compatible with a wide range of Spitronics ECUs, including Mercury3 and Orion2, this unit enables reliable spark delivery in applications requiring external driver support.

While the Mercury3 ECU can directly control smart coils with internal drivers, basic coils require the Orion Coil Driver. This 2-way version allows for the control of two basic coils, either in direct fire or wasted spark configuration, depending on your setup. In systems like Orion2 that support multiple outputs, using an external driver can free up internal negative drivers for additional functions such as injectors or solenoids.

The Orion Coil Driver uses high-voltage drivers capable of delivering up to 500V on the primary, resulting in a strong 50kV output spark on most compatible coils. Proper tuning is essential—set coil charge times according to coil specs (typically below 5.5 amps) to prevent overheating.
